About The Contest

Participants are emailed their team members names, contact details and the project challenge at the launch of the contest.

Victoria University of Wellington students are train ed to set up the Global Enterprise Experience teams and facilitate. It is their responsibility to get the team started. Leadership of the team may remain with the Victoria University student or another leader may emerge from the team.

Victoria University has developed an international business course that has the Global Enterprise Experience embedded in it. The course design is available if other universiti

es wish to do something similar.

Each team has 21 days to prepare their proposal and have a representative of the team email it to the organiser by the due date and time. The 2010  contest will run from April 21 to May 12.

There is a prize of NZ$1000 (about $US700) for each participating member of the winning team i.e. $NZ8000 in total for the team. There is an additional NZ$1000 for the best one page journal. The contest is free to enter.

All participants who submit a journal receive a certificate and a letter of commendation.

There is a panel of international judges. Previous judges have included the Deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand, Deputy Secretary-General of UNCTAD, CEO of the Samoan Public Services Commission, Mayor of Wellington, Brazilian Ambassador, and the judge of the world Entrepreneur of the Year contest.

Judges are influenced by the:

 

  • Quality of the business idea
  • Evidence of team work
  • Evidence of managing diversity
  • Quality of research, analysis and thinking
  • Presentation of the report
